Haay, Naku!!!

(21) daga

In Tagalog, daga refers to rat. In Aklan, rat is called eanggam
But in Aklanon, daga has three meanings:
a. dagger, knife
b. to sacrifice (an animal for good luck)
c. clay (used for earthenware vessels)

 (20) sabot
Sa Cebuano, sabot refers to understanding.
But in Hiligaynon and in Aklanon it refers to pubic hair.

(19) bangag
Sa Tagalog ang salitang bangag ay stupid (in some areas). Syn. Hangal, Tanga (Source: Tagalog-English Dictionary, Leo English.
Sa Aklanon, bangag 👎 is a coconut beetle.

 (18) libat
In Tagalog, libat refers to the recurrence of pain or an illness. In Aklanon, libat refers to a person who is cross-eyed.

(17) pako
In Tagalog, pako refers to a nail, while in Aklanon, pako refers to a fern, Athyrium esculentum.

(16) paki
In Tagalog, paki is a prefix, that forms nouns to denote favor asked or requested. In Aklanon, paki refers to a lane or crippled person.

(15) bukid
In Tagalog, bukid refers to the countryside or farm. In Aklanon, bukid refers to the mountain.

(14) humay
In Hiligaynon, humay refers to unhusked rice grain. In Aklanon, humay refers to cooked rice. 
 
(13) walis
Sa Tagalog ang salitang walis ay isang bagay na ginagamit sa paglilinis ng sahig o lupa, karamihan ito'y gawa mula sa dahon ng niyog. Pinagsama-sama itong mga tingting ng niyog or buri.
Sa Hiligaynon at Kiniray-a, kapag sinabing walis, ikaw ay left-handed.
 
(12) ahas
Sa Tagalog ang ahas ay isang hayup na makamandag (snake)
Sa Aklanon, ang ahas ay pag-aalis ng isang bagay sa tubig (to take out (of the water). (June 21, 2023)
 
(11) bao
In Aklanon, bao refers to snail or to turtle. It can also refer to a dull person. In Tagalog, bao refers to coconut shell without husk or meat. It also refers to a widow or widower. (June 20, 2023)
 
(10) subang 
In Aklanon, subang (adj) means, the eldest child among the children of a family; while in Hiligaynon, subang has two meanings: to rise, appear (of the sun, the moon) and it also refers to the eldest child. (June 19, 2023)
 
(9) damak
In Tagalog damak means (a) palm; the width of the hand; (b)open-handed; generous
In Hiligaynon and in Aklanon, damak means dirty, untidy.
 
(8) amba
In Tagalog, amba means a threatening gesture. In Hiligaynon, amba means to sing.
Tagalog: Bakit mo inaambahan ang kasama mo? Why are you showing a threatening gesture to your companion?
Hiligaynon: Maamba ka subong? Will you sing now? (June 13, 2023)
 
(7) amak
In Tagalog, amak 👎 refers to a hut in the forest or mountain.
In Aklanon, amak 👎 refers to tinder, kindling (small pieces of fuel for fire)
Example: Mag-isa lang si Lolo ang nakatira sa kanyang amak. Lolo lives alone in his hut.
Taw-i abi ako it liay ay himuon ko nga pang-amak. Please give me a dried coconut leaf because I will use it as a kindling. (June 11, 2023)
 
(6) tilaok
In Tagalog, tilaok 👎 means crow or crowing of a rooster. In Aklanon, tilaok 👎 means throat or windpipe.
Maririnig mo ang tilaok ng tandang na manok sa madaling araw. You can hear the crowing of the rooster at dawn.
Masakit rang tilaok ay nabakog ako. My throat is aching because a bone stuck in my throat. (June 8, 2023)
 
(5) aba
In Tagalog, aba means poor or wretched condition, but in Aklanon it means to carry on one's back. It also means "Really?"
Example:
Ang abang kalagayan ng mga magsasaka. The wretched condition of the farmers.
Nag-aba si Toto sa likod ni Manong na. Toto is carried on his brother's back.
 
Aba? May Christmas bonus ka gali! Really? You did receive a Christmas bonus? (June 6, 2023)
 
(4) gamos
In Tagalog, gamos means a scratch on the face, while in Aklanon, it means to salt.
Example:
Kitang-kita ang gamos sa mukha ni Marie. The scratch on Marie'sface is visible.
Gingamos ni Nanay ro bolinao nga ginbakae ni Tatay. Nanay salted the anchovy that Tatay had purchased. (June 6, 2023)
 
(3) luto
In Tagalog, luto means cuisine or a style of cooking, while in Aklanon, luto means to mourn (for)
Example:
Anong linuluto ng Tatay mo? What is your Tatay cooking?
Nakaluto si Maria bangud namatay ra nobyo. Maria mourns because her boyfriend died. (June 5, 2023)
 
(2) aso
In Tagalog, aso refers to a dog, while in Aklanon, aso means smoke.
Example:
Mag-ingat at baka makagat kayo ng aso. Be careful, you might be bitten by a dog.
Nagbuyog ra ueo paghak-eo na it aso. He felt dizzy when he inhaled the smoke. (June 5, 2023)
 
(1) tao
In Tagalog, the word tao refers to a person.
But in Aklanon, the word tao means "I don't know".
Example: Tao kon mauli imaw hindunang gabii.
I don't know if he/she will go home tonight. (June 1, 2023)
