poem, Scavenger

Scavenger
by Melchor F. Cichon
May 4, 2020

Dig much deeper,
Dig much wider.
Ignore the stink,
Neither the tangent looks
Of passersby.
They too have
Their own smokey mountains.
Dig much deeper,
Dig much wider.
The morsel food you'll find
Will be more valuable
Than the stolen apples
You see in the houses
Of crooked men.
